Compendium of data sources addressing disasters and health

The need for high quality, accurate, broad, and interoperable datasets to improve decision making in healthcare settings is a critical need which is highlighted in several government reports, strategies, after action reports, business plans, and scientific articles. Accordingly, this project sought to address this vital need by collecting, organizing and, describing a wide variety of publicly available data sources that sit at the intersection of disasters and health. The resultant compendium of 73 disaster health-related data sources is organized by category and theme for ease of use. It is designed to support both research and operational communities to conduct disaster research, implement data-driven decision making in healthcare-related contexts to augment operational efficacy and ensure better outcomes in the face of increasingly frequent and devastating disasters and catastrophes, while also identifying areas for further data development.
