Population genomics of the northern acorn barnacle in the European Arctic

The project aims to unveil the source and time of the colonisation of the Svalbard archipelago by the northern acorn barnacle, Semibalanus balanoides. We utilised low coverage whole genome sequencing in order to conduct population structure and demographic analyses. The results of the study will help us to understand whether the appearence of this boreal organism in the Arctic ecosystem is the result of contemporary human induced Atlantification or it occured during an earlier warm period.
