VPRS 12660 Summary Contract Book (Roads and Bridges Branch)

From 1877, the Public Works Department (VA 669), Board of land and Works (VA 744) became responsible for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges, succeeding the Department of Railways and Roads (VA 2875). The previously existing Roads and Bridges Branch assumed responsibility for this function.This series contains the summary details of contracts let for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges giving details of the dates and amounts of tenders, of completion of the contract and of the issuing of the Final Certificate, deposits lodged and the name of the contractor.VPRS 12660/P1 was formerly registered as Unit 17 of VPRS 1108 Contract Book.
