Report of the identification of a neurotropic astrovirus (OvAstV-CH16) associated with encephalitis in sheep. This virus is geneticallz almost identical to an astrovirus (BoAstV-CH15) recently described in neurologically diseased cattle. This similarity indicates that astroviruses of the same genotype may cause encephalitis in different species.
