The British Election Study, 2024: Post-Election Random Probability Survey is an address-based random probability sample of eligible voters. It corresponds to the 2024 UK General Election that took place on 4 July 2024. At this election, the Labour Party, led by Sir Keir Starmer, was the largest party, winning a landslide majority of 411 seats on 34.6% of the vote. The Conservative Party, led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, came in second. It won 121 seats on 24.4% of the vote. The Liberal Democrats, led by Sir Ed Davey, came third in terms of seats: winning 72 seats on 12.6% of the vote. Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, came third in terms of votes cast on 14.7%, but only won 5 seats.

In total, 3,089 people completed the survey. Of these 2,596 lived in England, 333 lived in Scotland, and 160 lived in Wales. Further, survey respondents lived in 301 different parliamentary constituencies. Most respondents were interviewed face-to-face in their own home (2,617), with a small minority (472) choosing to answer a push-to-web questionnaire. Importantly, all survey respondents are drawn from the original probability sample, so that this survey still represents a random probability sample of the British voting eligible population.

Ipsos conducted fieldwork between 5th July and 10th November 2024. Push-to-web data collection occurred between the 8th of November 2024 and 11th of December 2024. For in-depth details on the data collection process, see the technical report document.

Finally, the survey also included a self-completed Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES) module. 52.7 percent of respondents completed this module (1,627 of 3,089).
