Staphylococcus aureus is an important pathogen causing a wide range of infections. In Ghana, resistance of S. aureus to locally available antibiotics is increasing and their molecular epidemiology is poorly understood. Resistance and virulence gene profiles of S. aureus isolated from chronic infected wounds in a rural area of Ghana where investigated by whole genome sequencing.
