Fermentation of resistant glucans by human gut microbiota. Human fecal microbiota in fermentation cultures

In this experiment, we aim to determine to what extent the fine structure of a resistant glucan influences how it will be fermented by identical microbiota. We fermented a panel of resistant glucans varying in structure, and found that fine structure of the glucan influenced both metabolic and microbial outcomes of fermentation.
