Seabird survey in Ny Ålesund, Svalbard

This data were collected as part of fieldwork conduct in Ny-Ålesund, on the west coast of Svalbard, for the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS)’s AB-202 Marine Arctic Biology course. As part of the fieldwork, visual time-weighted surveys were conducted to record individual bird species counts, at 3 different sites: the “Marine Lab West”, facing the mouth of Kongsfjorden, the “Marine Lab East”, facing Conwaybreen, Kronebreen, and a small fraction of Kongsbreen glaciers, as well as “Amundsen tower”, facing the southern side of Blomstrandhalvøya. This dataset includes individual counts of all bird species recorded during 30-minute observer surveys.
