Atrial fibrillation (AF) is characterized by adverse structural remodeling of the atria that involves multiple cell types. Genome-wide association studies indicate a link between transcriptional regulation in cardiac cells and AF. Thus, the aim of the present study was to uncover cell type-specific changes in gene expression in atria from patients with AF vs. sinus rhythm (SR).
