Dataset for the paper "Submicron infrared spectroscopy assessment of single-cell phenotypic diversity in microbial lipid production"

Measurements of the population of yeast (Rhodotorula Graminis) cells by optical photothermal infrared spectroscopy (O-PTIR) using a mIRage infrared microscope (Photothermal Spectroscopy Corp., USA). Six single-point spectra, creating 3 × 2 grid, were acquired in succession across each yeast cell, with approx. 1 μm distance between the measurement points. 40 individual cells were measured, with the total of 240 O-PTIR spectra. The cells were annotated manually and the pixel area was calculated as a number of pixel in the cell's mask. Each experiment was encoded using the format cXXrY, where XX denotes the sample number (from 01 to 40) and Y indicates the measurement point (from 1 to 6).
