Evolution_of_rewired_genomes_in_Salmonella_enterica_

The Gram-negative facultative intracellular pathogen Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium controls the expression of its virulence genes in concert with those of the core genome using an array of global regulators and dedicated transcription factors. Among these global regulators are the nucleoid-associated proteins (NAPs) H-NS, HU, IHF, Dps and FIS. Currently, we are investigating the significance of the NAP gene expression patterns for the physiology of the bacterium and the long-term stability of the genome.
