BEYOND LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE: AN INTEGRATIVE ANALYSIS OF PROFESSIONALISM, PERSONALITY, AND ADAPTABILITY IN INTERPRETING PERFORMANCE

Interpreting is a cognitively intensive and socially situated activity that extends beyond linguistic transfer to include psychological and professional dimensions. This study offers an advanced theoretical and empirical analysis of the interaction between professionalism, personality traits, and adaptability in interpreting. Adopting a mixed-methods design, the research demonstrates that adaptability functions as a central mediating mechanism linking dispositional traits and professional behavior to interpreting performance. The findings contribute to a more dynamic model of interpreting competence, in which adaptability is conceptualized as a core operational construct rather than a peripheral skill.
