Genome sequencing of Pelobacter alkaliphilus sp. nov., a novel anaerobic alkaliphilic bacterium (strain M08fum) isolated from terrestrial mud volcano Karabetova gora, Taman peninsula, Russia. This microorganism is able to respire arsenate as the electron acceptor using acetate as the carbon substrate and possessed the ability to grow fermentatively on organic acids such as fumarate, malate, lactate and pyruvate.
