资源简介:
The story of Panji Jayakusuma is one of the episodes from a classic tale that developed between the 11th and 14th centuries, during the final period of the Hindu-Buddhist era in Java. Unlike other classical epics of that time or earlier periods, the Panji narrative emerged from and within the context of local Javanese culture.
The Panji Tale is a classic work of Javanese literature that developed during the Majapahit period. It became very popular in the lives of people across the Nusantara (Indonesian archipelago) and Southeast Asia from ancient times until today. This is evident from the numerous variants of the Panji Tale that have been documented, both in the form of ancient manuscripts and oral traditions that have spread as far as Southeast Asia. In the life of Nusantara society, the presence of the Panji Tale holds a very special place. Unlike many kakawin (epic poems) influenced by Indian epics, the Panji Tale is an original story that originated in Java. It tells of Javanese knights with settings in Javanese kingdoms, not Indian ones. The Panji Tale, with its many variants, typically takes place in East Javanese kingdoms during the period of around the 10th to 16th centuries. Due to its popularity, Panji stories have been found in various forms across regions and cultures up to the present day. They appear in performances, written texts, temple reliefs, oral traditions, and even digital media.
