Whole Genome Sequencing and Molecular Epidemiology of Pathogenic and Mycotoxigenic Antifungal- Resistant Aspergilli in Human, Animal, and Environment using a One Health Approach.

The project is highly relevant to antimicrobial resistance, one of the shared grand challenges of thiscentury having significant public health impact and cross-resistance mechanisms. The project is alsogermane to the One Health approach, research and development needs, and implications for policy andadvocacy. Addressing antifungal resistance is integral to the broader effort of combating antimicrobialresistance and safeguarding the effectiveness of antimicrobial agents for future generations. Reports on Aspergilli diversity, cryptic species, and secondary metabolites from a One-Health approach in this low-resource setting are sparse, hence the need for this project.
