Exploration of microbes contributing to effective scum degradation

This study aimed to investigate the cardinal microorganisms in anaerobic scum digestion. A sludge was pre-incubated with scum to enrich scum-degrading microbes. Using this sludge, the scum-degrading efficiency and the effect of scum-loading rate on the microbial community was evaluated.
