This dataset supports version 2 of the arXiv manuscript Kinetic closure of turbulence: collision-side modeling beyond the filtered Boltzmann equation by Francesco Marson and Orestis Malaspinas. The companion software release is deposited on Zenodo at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.21260883. The associated arXiv record is available at https://arxiv.org/abs/2605.19796, DOI https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2605.19796. The package contains processed simulation data, plotting and post-processing scripts, verification wrapper scripts, file checksums, representative VTK snapshots, and one rendered cylinder-wake animation for three numerical cases: the Taylor–Green vortex, flow around a circular cylinder, and the lid-driven cavity. The data reproduce the plotted statistics, spectra, and data-derived values used to compare kinetic-closure lattice Boltzmann models with Smagorinsky and regularization-based reference models. The revised cylinder-flow dataset includes the reference PIV data used in the manuscript comparisons. Representative VTK snapshots and the included cylinder-wake animation support inspection of the field data used for the visualization comparisons. High-count processed outputs are stored as compressed archives under data/. Representative visualization snapshots are listed in docs/VTK_SNAPSHOTS.tsv. File sizes and SHA256 checksums are recorded in MANIFEST.tsv. 🛑 License and ethical-use restriction: This dataset package and the included research materials are distributed under the End-User Ethical Dataset and Software License Agreement (EEDSLA), Version 1.1, July 2026. The license permits use only for peaceful academic, scientific, educational, civil, or other non-military purposes. It prohibits direct or indirect military, defense, national-security, intelligence, tactical, weapons-development, targeting, combat, surveillance, combat-logistics, and related dual-use applications. It also includes an International Criminal Court exclusion, as defined in the LICENSE file. These restrictions apply in addition to the Zenodo Terms of Use. Users must read and comply with the complete LICENSE file before downloading, accessing, copying, executing, or using the research materials.
