NARRATING LOSS: SPEECH PATTERNS OF WIDOWED WOMEN DURING CRISES IN WUKARI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA IN TARABA STATE, NIGERIA

This dataset contains anonymized narrative data collected from widowed women in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, Nigeria. The data was gathered as part of a research study titled “Narrating Loss: Speech Patterns of Widowed Women During Crises.” The narratives were collected through in-depth interviews with 20 women who lost their husbands during communal or crisis-related events. The interviews explored how these women use language to express grief, cultural identity, and coping strategies. Data was collected between March and April 2024 and transcribed verbatim. All identifiable information was removed to ensure participant anonymity. Ethical approval was obtained from Federal University Wukari, Research Ethics Committee and informed consent was secured from all participants for academic use of their responses. This dataset may be useful to researchers in the fields of sociolinguistics, gender studies, oral narratives, grief studies, and African cultural studies. Access to the dataset is governed by ethical considerations related to the sensitivity of the content.
