Genome-wide transcriptomic analysis identified specific heat-responsive genes and regulatory mechanisms in distinct pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.) genotypes under heat stress conditions. Leveraging natural variations in heat tolerance, pivotal genes involved in heat stress response at the seedling stage were uncovered. These findings promise to improve heat resilience in pearl millet and other crops facing similar challenges in production environments susceptible to heat stress. The study's findings offer valuable resources to refine breeding strategies, advancing the development of heat-tolerant crops with improved nutritional quality and productivity.
