NRS-13638 | Cash book - monies disbursed to witnesses at criminal sessions

For each criminal session the volume records money allocated for payment of witnesses (out of petty cash account) by the Prothonotary, in some cases itemising payments made (showing amount paid, name of witness). Total expenditure for each session is given, together with balance remaining after session concluded. In some cases whether witnesses arrived by land or sea is noted. The volume also includes a schedule of attendance fees payable to witnesses, showing amounts payable per diem to private persons and government officers (policemen, mounted police, prisoners' overseers, etc.). Mileage allowances over and above attendance fees, fees payable to witnesses for sea voyages to attend sittings and payment of attendance money to jurors are also noted.
