Replication Package for Land Restitution and Deforestation in Colombia

This replication package is a companion to the paper "Land Restitution and Deforestation in Colombia" by Laura Peralta, Marie Boltz, Philippe Delacote, Kenneth Houngbedji, and Julien Jacob (2025). The package provides all data and code necessary to reproduce the results presented in the paper. It combines cartographic data on Colombian municipalities with multiple sources of information on land cover, forest loss, cultivated land, socioeconomic indicators, conflict dynamics, and land restitution claims. The repository includes: Processed datasets ("data/final"), ensuring replicability without exposing sensitive information. Stata do-files ("code/stata") for data construction and statistical analysis, with clear instructions on how to run the scripts. Documentation detailing the sources of raw data, replication workflow, and description of each file. Replication can be performed either: Using the cleaned datasets included in the package and running "00_main_dofile_with_final_data.do", or Using raw datasets to reconstruct the cleaned datasets and running "00_main_dofile_with_raw_data.do". Data Availability Input data from the CEDE panel cannot be redistributed directly due to access restrictions. Links to the relevant sources are provided in the documentation.
