Topics covered in this survey include whether Australia should try to stage the 1988 Olympic games; approval or disapproval of gambling casinos, poker machines and televised State-run bingo; expectations regarding the rates of inflation and unemployment, number of strikes and industrial disputes, shortages of goods, interest rates, and, company profits and dividends; sale of liquor on Sundays and banning liquor advertisements from television and radio; and, introduction of random breath testing of drivers and opinion on minimum blood alcohol level for conviction. Background variables include occupation of self and head of household, whether respondent assists employer on purchase decisions, marital status, education, age, sex, voting enrolment, economic classification, gross income, whether respondent is renting or buying a home and phone ownership.
