Note: Estimates are based on calculations by authors using raw data from National Sample Survey data for 2004. Reference period refer to a household report in the period (15 days or 1 year) immediately preceding the survey. The data presented refer to all households, regardless of whether there was a death in the household. 95% confidence intervals are reported in parentheses underneath the means for each statistic. *indicates that the treatment and matched controls are significantly different at the 5% level.
