Some fish organic cation transporters (OCTs) assembled from NCBI transcriptomes.

Many elasmobranchs and bony fish have high levels of TMAO in their blood and muscle tissues. This raises the question whether these fishes have specific transporters for accumulating TMAO. Candidate TMAO transporter are organic cation transporters (OCTs) that appear to be present in all fish, as well as all vertebrates. Most fish OCTs have accession numbers in NCBI. Here I describe the nucleotide sequences of seven additional OCTs that do not have accession numbers in NCBI. They were assembled from transcriptomes in NCBI.
