Penicillium chrysogenum P2niaD18 Complete genome sequencing. Penicillium chrysogenum strain:P2niaD18

The complete genome sequence of the high-penicillin producer strain Penicillium chrysogenum P2niaD18 was carried out by an Illumina genome sequencing approach. P2niaD18 was generated by conventional mutagenesis of strain P-2 (ATCC 48271). The complete genome sequence of the industrial strain P2niaD18 gives an insight into the effects caused by several steps of mutation and selection during strain improvement programs. In addition, the comparison of genome sequences from different penicillin-producing strains allows functional analysis regarding their diverse penicillin biosynthesis rates.
