Performance, sludge characteristics and microbial community in a salt-tolerant aerobic granular SBR by seeding anaerobic granular sludge

Aerobic granular sludge has been regarded as a promising technology for saline wastewater treatment. However, the structural stability and nitrogen removal efficiency of salt-tolerant aerobic granular sludge (SAGS) cultured from activated sludge were insufficient. In this study, an efficient strategy for the cultivation of SAGS was explored-seeding anaerobic granular sludge. This study provided a new strategy and theoretical support for the treatment of salt-containing wastewater.
