DNA derived fungal communities of terrestrial subsurface aquifers in Hainich CZE

Groundwater samples from two superimposed pristine limestone aquifers were collected from different wells in Hainch-CZE. DNA-based high throughput pair-end illumina sequencing analysis of fungal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) gene markers was used to target groundwater fungal communities from fractured alternating carbonate-/siliciclastic-rock aquifers of the Hainich Critical Zone Exploratory.
