资源简介:
The dataset contains the perimeters of the two biosphere reserves present on the territory of the Grand East region:
— the Transboundary Biosphere Reserve Vosges du Nord — Pfälzerwald (Palatinate Forest): the Northern Vosges and the Palatinate Forest were recognised by UNESCO as biosphere reserves in 1989 and 1993, respectively. In 1998, UNESCO recognised both territories as a cross-border biosphere reserve Vosges du Nord-Pfälzerwald.
— the Moselle-Sud Biosphere Reserve, which was recognised by UNESCO on 15/09/2021.
A biosphere reserve (BAM) is part of the protected natural areas (ENP) which are designated or managed in an international, Community, national or local framework with a view to achieving specific objectives for the conservation of the natural heritage.
A biosphere reserve is an internationally designated terrestrial or marine space under UNESCO’s human and biosphere programme. This global network aims to promote a balanced relationship between man and nature, and to facilitate cooperation in the field of research, particularly through cross-border reserves. Each reserve has a triple zoning defined in accordance with the modalities of human occupation and the distribution of objectives ranging from strict protection to sustainable development: a central zone, a buffer zone and a transition zone (the latter zone which delimits the outer border of the biosphere reserve, has only an indicative value).
