A total of thirteen 5-week-old Kele piglets from the same litter in a pig farm of Guizhou province were selected to perform the experimental infection studies. The piglets were randomly divided into four groups (three piglets in the Control, PRRSV, and HPS groups; and four piglets in the PRRSV-HPS dual infection group). The piglets in the PRRSV group and PRRSV-HPS group were intramuscularly (IM) 3 mL and intranasally (IN) 3 mL inoculated with PRRSV-2; the pigs in the HPS group and PRRSV-HPS group were IM 1.5 mL and IN 1.5 mL inoculated with HPS4. The control pigs were inoculated with the same amount of RPMI-1640. All animals were euthanized after 10 days post-infection (dpi). Lung tissues were collected and sequenced.
