Snakes widely used in traditional medicines and it consist of various kind of aerobic and anaerobic microbes that have the potential to cure diseases and will be beneficial to develop new drugs or antibiotics. However, there are very limited researches have been done on snakes. Therefore, we have profiled the microbial populations found in guts of 15 snakes in Malaysia by using 16S rRNA gene based metagenomics sequencing. This finding will provide a foundation for future studies on snake gut microbiomes.
