Preinanku: A Virtual Reality Game as an Innovative Media for Javanese Language Learning
收藏资源简介:
The preservation of regional languages, especially Javanese is becoming endangered due to globalization and the loss of interest among the youth. This research addresses this challenge by devising and evaluating Preinanku, a metaverse-based digital learning environment for reinvigorating the learning of Javanese language in elementary-level learners. Based on a hybrid model of instruction which merges the ADDIE model and Borg & Gall, Preinanku integrates immersive VR and AR to provide context, interaction, and culturally anchored learning. Implemented with third and fourth graders at four elementary schools in Semarang, the platform was evaluated using pre/post tests and qualitative student and teacher responses. While the results indicate a significant increase in Javanese proficiency, with post test scores reaching the category of "very high" and average percentage of gain of 96.1%. Qualitative data show improved student motivation, collaboration, and cultural connection and expert review supports the educational value of the platform (CVI= 0.91). While small in scale, this study indicates that immersive, gamified digital media can greatly augment language acquisition and cultural literacy, underscoring the importance of novel, context appropriate technology in language maintenance, and providing a model for future educational outreach efforts.
