资源简介:
These data are filtered locations, stomach temperature records and histograms of dive durations and dive depths of northern fur seal pups tagged on the Commander Islands, Russia. A total of 35 northern fur seal pups were tagged with Mk10-AL satellite tags with stomach temperature recorders (Wildlife Computers) in late October 2007. The satellite tags were attached to the mid-backs of each animal with epoxy, and stomach temperature pills were inserted into the stomachs of the animals while under gas anesthesia. The location data was obtained from Service Argos between October 2007 and March 2008 and was filtered using a Douglas filter that removed locations where travel speeds exceed 2 m/s. The dataset is in a spreadsheet (.csv) format. The Mk10 satellite tags were also programmed to obtain histogram data of the number of dives in different dive depth and dive duration bins within 6-hour time intervals. These data are also in spreadsheet format. The stomach temperature data are in csv format, but are separated into the respective months when data was collected. These datasets were archived as part of the North Pacific Research Board legacy project recovery effort undertaken by Axiom Data Science and NPRB in 2025. The goal of the recovery effort was to assess the NPRB-funded data projects from 2002 to 2014 and archive final data packages that were ready for publication to increase long-term accessibility and discoverability. Data packages were archived as is given limited funding and resources.
