The purpose of this record was to provide summary information on the admission and discharge of voluntary boarders at the Janefield Colony, from the commencement of the institution in 1938, up until when Janefield was proclaimed as a Training Centre in October 1962.Voluntary boarders at Janefield were admitted under the relevant Mental Health Acts as a person who is apparently intellectually defective, and upon the request of a parent or guardian, or on request of a medical practitioner.The register lists admissions chronologically, and details the following information:- Date of Reception- Name in Full- Gender- Age- Condition as to Marriage- Occupation- Address- Form of Mental Disorder- Causation- Physical Condition- Period of Residence Agreed- Date of Discharge- Date of, or Age at, DeathRemarks (this column was regularly used to record the patient's religion).
