Leaf area index and growth form fractions for MEGAN over Los Angeles: figure data and code

This Zenodo record contains data and code to reproduce figures from an evaluation of two land surface inputs to the MEGAN biogenic VOC emission model in the Los Angeles Basin: leaf area index (LAI) and growth form fractions (tree, shrub, grass). LAI: Sentinel-2 LAI is compared with ground LAI-2200 measurements at sites on the UC Irvine campus (May–November 2025) and with CGLS and MODIS LAI products over Los Angeles (June 2025). Growth form fractions: ESA WorldCover and MODIS VCF are assessed against an i-Tree Canopy photo interpretation from 21 cells of a 1 km grid. WorldCover city tree cover is compared with Google Environmental Insights Explorer for 30 cities in Southern California. Files: figureData.xlsx (data for every figure, one sheet for each figure), makeFigures.py (recreates all figures from the spreadsheet), processing.zip (scripts that produced the figure data), and README.md (guide and methods). The original ground LAI observations are not included. They may be available upon request, subject to approval from the original data providers. Results are preliminary and not yet published.
