Quality Librarian education in unexpected places!

Industry partners may not be where librarians look for professional development. This poster helps to uncover these unexpected opportunities by highlighting courses, video tutorials, and training materials offered to advance library services and librarianship. These programs and materials include Library Connect, Scopus Certification, and the Research Data Management Librarian Academy (RDMLA). Library Connect has been partnering with librarians for over 16 years as a program for sharing best practices about library technology, roles and services. Library Connect is free and offered globally via quarterly webinars, a monthly newsletter and daily social media posts. Scopus Certification for librarians is an online training program comprising six modules that are a practical exploration of applying Scopus on the job, supplemented by other areas such as user outreach. RDMLA is a free online program (in English) that will offer seven different research data management topical modules. Planned for a 2019 launch, the RDMLA is being developed by a team of US librarians led by Harvard Medical College’s Countway Medical Library and an industry partner. This poster provides insights into user needs, as well as program outcomes and materials. Graphs, photographs, and data samples will be included to illustrate the above in a compelling manner.
