Dataset: YouTube video metadata of the Big Five European football leagues

This dataset provides comprehensive video metadata and engagement metrics extracted from the official YouTube channels of football clubs belonging to the 'Big Five' European leagues (Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1). The dataset is designed to facilitate the study of audiovisual communication, algorithmic logic, and digital engagement strategies in professional sports. Dataset Structure: The deposit contains two main files, separating the raw extraction from the coded variables to ensure full transparency and replicability: BBDD completa YouTube BigFive fútbol.xlsx: Contains the direct extraction of video metrics (e.g., URLs, publication dates, duration, views, likes, and comment volumes) prior to any manipulation. BDDD ANALIZADA YouTube BigFive fútbol.xlsx: The processed dataset including the qualitative categorization of the videos. It incorporates newly coded variables designed to analyze digital strategies (such as format, emojis, themes, etc.). The manual coding process was validated with high intercoder reliability (K=0.89). Potential Uses: This data can be utilized by researchers in sports communication, digital marketing, and computational social science to analyze content strategies, algorithmic performance, and audience behavior on video-sharing platforms.
