Native Fish

The native fish dataset encompasses observations gathered from diverse regions within New South Wales (NSW), Australia. This dataset is characterised by its point-based structure, consisting of records of native fish occurrences obtained through two primary survey methods: environmental DNA (eDNA) surveys and baited remote underwater video surveys (BRUVs).\r\n\r\nEnvironmental DNA surveys involve the collection and analysis of genetic material shed by aquatic organisms into the surrounding water, providing a non-invasive method for detecting the presence of fish species. Baited remote underwater video surveys (BRUVs) employ underwater cameras equipped with bait to attract fish, allowing for visual identification and documentation of fish species at various depths and locations within aquatic environments.\r\n\r\nEach record in the native fish dataset includes essential information such as species identification, spatial coordinates of observation sites, survey methodology (eDNA or BRUV), and additional environmental parameters such as water quality, habitat characteristics, and vegetation cover.
