Global production volume of base metals 2023, by commodity

Aluminum was the most voluminously produced of the base metals in 2023, amounting to 70 million metric tons of smelter production globally that year. Copper produced from mines amounted to 22 million metric tons worldwide that year, and was the second-most produced base metal at that time.
