资源简介:
When large amounts of Fluoride (F-) are consumed skeletal fluorosis arises. Moreover, the chronic ingestion of F- produces insulin resistance. On the other hand, the toxic effects of F- on insulin resistance was reversed by physical exercise in rats, because of a high fluoride uptake by bone tissue, but side effects of fluoride in bones have not been studied in those experiments. Therefore, the aim of this work was to evaluate bone quality in rats that reversed the insulin resistance induced by F- when performing exercise. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 3 groups (n=6 per group): Control (drinking water without NaF), Fluoride (drinking water with NaF 15 mg/L for 30 days) and Exercise (daily running on a treadmill and drinking water with NaF 15 mg/L for 30 days). Then, bones were obtained for measuring bone mineral density (BMD), mechanical and histological properties and bone fluoride level. The data presented here gathers variables that describe the biomechanical and histological properties, bone mineral density, and bone fluoride content of rats that performed physical activity (daily running on a treadmill) and that also chronically ingested sodium fluoride in the water of drink. In addition to the variables that make it possible to assess the quality of the bone tissue, data on glycemia, insulinemia, insulin resistance index, fluoremia, fluoruria and weight of these animals and the control group of rats from the sprague dawley line of 70 days of age are presented at the beginning of the treatments and 100 days of age at the end of them. Value of the data: These data provide information on bone quality in animals that present resistance to insulin beacouse of fluoride consumption and that also perform physical activity. Physical exercise generates greater accumulation of fluoride in bone. The high consumption of fluoride and its accumulation in the bones cause skeletal fluorosis, a problem that affects thousands of people in the world. Skeletal fluorosis is very common in countries like China and Tanzania where drinking water has a high concentration of this ion.
