Envy and Schadenfreude in the Classroom: Longitudinal Data (SUF edition)

Full edition for scientific use. This dataset consists of a single data file representing two measurement points from the project "Neid und Schadenfreude im Unterrichtskontext" (Envy and Schadenfreude in the Classroom) conducted at the University of Vienna. Measurement point 1 took place between October and November 2023, and measurement point 2 took place in April 2024. At measurement point 1, two vignette-experiments focusing on schadenfreude and envy were implemented in the survey. Data from both measurement points were merged, resulting in 2172 data records of 7th – 10th grade students, aged 12 to 18 years from 98 classrooms in six Austrian secondary schools located in Vienna and Lower Austria. The dataset contains sociodemographic variables, school grades, as well as items measuring schadenfreude (state and trait), envy (state and trait), being envied, well-being, academic self-concept, the impostor phenomenon, social comparison orientation, classroom climate, classroom goal structure (academic and social), perceived teacher justice, personal belief in a just world, academic emotions, verbal sadism, bullying perpetration, teacher feedback, and social desirability.
