Genome analysis of a sulphate-reducing deltaproteobacterium, Desulfogranum mesoprofundum KT2. Desulfomarina profundi

A novel mesophilic, strictly anaerobic, chemolithoautotrophic sulfate-reducing deltaproteobacterium, designated strain KT2, was isolated from a deep-sea hydrothermal vent at the Suiyo Seamount in the Izu-Bonin Arc, at a depth of 1383 m. The isolate grew with molecular hydrogen as the electron donor and sulfate, thiosulfate, and sulfite as the electron acceptors. As an effort to address the metabolic repertoire and phylogenetic property of strain KT2, we performed whole genome analysis.
