Dynamics of H2S production in mixed microbial cultures from environments associated with the oil industry

This study investigates the dynamics of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) production in mixed microbial cultures derived from different environments within the oil industry. Microcosms were established to monitor H2S production kinetics, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to characterize the bacterial community structure. The goal is to identify microbial profiles associated with increased H2S production and provide insights into microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) processes in petroleum systems.
