UZBEKISTAN'S TRANSITION TO GREEN ENERGY: LARGE-SCALE INVESTMENT, OBSERVED RESULTS AND FUTURE PLANS.
收藏资源简介:
Green energy has been a frequent topic in Uzbekistan over the past two years, but it is not always clear whether the changes are substantial or mostly declarative. This article examines how quickly Uzbekistan is expanding its renewable energy sector, which obstacles it faces, and how the changes may reach ordinary households. We reviewed legal acts, official ministry data, reports of international financial institutions and publicly announced investment projects. The share of renewables in total generation reached 45.3% in 2026, and more than 7 billion kWh of green electricity was produced in the summer months alone. Foreign investment from companies such as Masdar, ACWA Power and Voltalia exceeds USD 5 billion and is the main source of financing. Grid wear of 65–70%, the high cost of storage and a shortage of qualified engineers remain the main constraints. The transition already produces measurable economic, social and environmental effects. Its pace over the next decade will depend largely on grid modernisation, energy storage and workforce training.
