Number of picked-up calls from the SAMU in France 2017-2022

In 2022, the French SAMU (Urgent Medical Aid Service) picked up over 29.7 million phone calls. This was over a million more phone calls than the previous year and about six million more than in 2019. Local SAMU organizations operate the control rooms that answer emergency calls and dispatch medical responders. In France, different organizations provide emergency medical services. The central organizations that provide these services are known as SAMU, which stands for Service d'Aide Médicale Urgente (Urgent Medical Aid Service).
