First direct evidence of subterranean refugium use by Garra festai (Cyprinidae): borescope video, trap records, and spring hydrochemistry, Aammiq Wetland, Lebanon, 2026

Primary field dataset documenting the first direct evidence of subterranean karst refugium use by Garra festai (Tortonese, 1939), a Critically Endangered freshwater fish endemic to Aammiq Wetland, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon. On 4–5 April 2026, a borescope camera inserted into four karst spring outlets above First Pond recorded a minimum of 20 individuals at depths of 1.5–4 m, exhibiting gular disc adhesion to rock surfaces. The dataset comprises borescope video footage (21 MP4 files, 10 GB), trap catch photographs and specimen records (5 individuals, GF2026-01 to GF2026-05), spring outlet and pond photographs, water quality measurements (temperature, TDS, conductivity, pH) at all four outlets and pond centre, GPS coordinates derived from a 5 cm/px orthomosaic, GeoJSON point files, and field survey notes from 17 March and 4–5 April 2026.
