Using an agent-based model, we compared three herbicide application programs across a gradient from higher to lower sustainability to predict their indirect effects on plant and pollinator communities. The three scenarios were based on different application programs, linked to cultural practices such as crop rotation, and designed for a full rotation cycle. The model was parameterized considering both the inherent probability of each plant species and the inherent and agronomic risk of herbicide resistance development. To represent these traits, we used a combination of eight different parameters: plant family, life cycle, seed persistence, dispersal type, number of resistant biotypes, mode of action group (MoA group), number of applications, and agronomic risk (i.e., management practices). The last three parameters correspond to the proposed application programs. The dataset used to parameterize our model is shared in the file. The parameter values for the model were established based on a literature review. The set of plant species and their proportions were constructed based on data collected from various surveys conducted in the central region of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina.
