Novel predatory sister lineage of red algae

We present here genomic and transcriptomic data from a novel phylum of eukaryotic microbes (Rhodelphidia) that is the sister lineage of red algae. Unlike red algae, which are typically photoautotrophic and immotile, Rhodelphids are predatory flagellates with relic non-photosynthetic plastids.
