In this study, we conducted an ingrowth core experiment in three vegetation types from shrub-dominated to grass-dominated community in the Mu Us Desert, northern China, to investigate the relative importance of fine roots and their symbioses in shaping soil nutrients and microbiome and detect the relationships among AMF-related inputs (AMF hyphae and glomalin-related soil protein (GRSP)), soil multifunctionality, and microbial diversity.
