AphidFunga - A curated global dataset of naturally occurring aphid-fungal associations

Data were collected by querying GloBI, major bibliographic databases (e.g. Scopus, Web of Science), search engines, and grey literature in eight non‑English languages, followed by manual extraction of aphid and fungal names, locations, interaction types, and references from over 800 screened sources. Taxonomies were updated via rgbif, taxize, GBIF Backbone, and Index Fungorum, with unresolved or doubtful names flagged and retained with notes.​ AphidFunga is distributed in three main formats: (1) one large comma‑separated table plus a notes table; (2) four comma‑separated relational tables (records, taxonomy, bibliography, notes); and (3) an importable MySQL SQL dump, mirrored as R data frames with the same relational structure.final_data.RDA – R workspace file containing the same relational AphidFunga tables (records, taxonomy, bibliography, notes) as ready‑to‑use R data frames for direct analysis in R.​records.csv – Comma‑separated main table with one row per unique aphid–fungus–country association, including GBIF IDs, interaction type, pathogenicity flag, country, reference code, and record‑level flags.​taxonomy.csv – Comma‑separated table listing all aphid and fungal taxa with their GBIF (or custom) IDs, full scientific names, higher taxonomy, rank (species/genus), and authorship.​bibliography.csv – Comma‑separated table of literature sources, giving a unique key, publication year, short in‑text citation, and full BibTeX reference for each source.​notes.csv – Comma‑separated table storing all flags and comments on uncertain taxonomy or geography, linkable to individual records via the association ID and field name.​merged_data.csv – One large, comma‑separated file in which the records table is already joined with taxonomy and bibliography, so taxonomic and reference information are repeated across rows.​AphidFunga.sql – SQL dump that reconstructs the full MySQL relational database, including linked records, taxonomy, bibliography, and notes tables, with all primary and foreign key relationships.
