De-novo transcriptome analysis for two samples of Ocimum gratissimum leaves was carried out. An average of 21.8 million high quality adapter free data was used after pre-processing for De-novo assembly. Clustering of assembled transcripts from two samples resulted in 108787 unique representative transcripts (average length of 1152 bp and N50 of 1691 bp). An average of 65.41% of transcripts were functionally annotated using public databases. Simple sequence repeat analysis revealed that an average of 30.03% of the transcripts having SSRs. An average of 4021 transcripts were found to be involved in metabolic pathways. Goal of the study was to detect differentially expressed genes in wild and transgenic leaves samples of O. gratissimum.
